Oh, Some Stuff I forgot!

We went roller skating in Greenwood for our spring retreat! One of the sketchiest places in town!! 7 year olds making out in the corners, and some guys dressed like they were trying to be "gangsta" with some dance moves. They were actually good but the fact that they thought they were all that was so funny, I was embarrassed for the. Oh, and did I mention one of them was a gray haired!! Probably in his mid 40s maybe 50s! Ha Ha. We also had our formal at this really pretty old house that made me feel like I was living in a fairy tale!! Ok, bye for real this time... I think.

:)

Hello sisters!!

Sorry that this blog has once again gotten away from me! Rush ended several weeks ago, we now have 7 new sisters!! Congratulations to Alex Oakes, Brooke Dodge, Casey Hughes, Anna Johnson, Paris Hanvey, Isabelle Forbes, and Leslie McGill!!! Thinking back to rush events... almost everyone's personal favorite, Miss Big Hair, Anna Johnson kept it in the family and was crowned Miss Big Hair (I'm such a proud mama :)) and Brooke Dodge was crowned for Biggest Hair!! The Miss Erskine Pageant was a success again, emceed by reigning Miss Erskine, Taylor Wolfe, and Tillary Blackman! Elizabeth DeVault was crowned Miss Erskine 2011, first runner up was Schadell Brooks, and second runner up was our own Meghan Matthews.  Meghan stunned the crowd with her stand up comedy routine while Schadell and Elizabeth sang.  The Relay for Life walk has been postponed until the fall since there is soo much going on this spring at Erskine.  The Athenians just had a successful fundraiser, we had a car wash.  We have visited our widow several times this semester, Rebekah Harkins and I even got to see her during the Widow's Ministry over spring break, she now has a ramp in her garage to avoid the steps!  Look out for information about Alumni weekend, we would love to see you guys!!

Agape.  :)

Happy very belated New Year!

Hello Everyone!
Sorry that it has been so long since I have posted. I was hoping to have Christmas party pictures so I could kill 2 birds with one stone (invisible, not real birds of course, wouldn't want to actually kill them), but that's no excuse for leaving you guys hanging for so long.  Spring rush is starting very soon! We have our last study break and open meeting this week, as well as our pre-rush social! I am also excited to report that we will be hosting the Miss Erskine Pageant again this year, with 2010's Miss Erskine, Taylor Wolfe will be em-ceeing along with Tillary Blackman. The theme will be Tiffany & Co. We have also decided to go camping at the Barn for our spring retreat on April 1st, hopefully it will be full of April Fool's shenanigans. I hope you are all well and having a great start to spring with the nice warm weather. I'll post again soon! :)

Holy Cow! This semester is almost over!!!

Hello Sisters!!
I hope that you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving! Mine was pretty great with the exception of the fall of Clemson to USC (yes Taylor Rhodes... we all know you are happy :)).  Earlier this month, the Athenians welcomed 5 new sisters; Abby O'Reilly, Tessa Rhealt, Ellis Evans, Maria Cinquemani, and Haley Whitney!! These 5 beautiful women worked so hard during rush and I am soo proud of them, like you don't even know, they even threw us a Legally Blonde movie night where we re-instituted the "Bend and Snap."  Lauren Files just so happens to be a pro at it!  These ladies were inducted into our society on November 16th, the same day as our Thanksgiving party, we had 5 new girl to be so thankful for. If you need any Thanksgiving jokes for next year... here's a few...
- "Why did they let the turkey join the band?"    ----- Because he had the drumsticks.....
- "Why did the turkey cross the road?"    ------- It was the chicken's day off.....
- "Why cant you take a turkey to church?" ----- Because they have such FOWL language...
Thanks to Annie Baldwin for the the holiday humor.  We also just concluded our last fundraiser of the semester, a raffle for a $50 Wal-Mart gift card. We've come up with some new fundraising ideas... including an Athenian Cookbook!! It's still in the works, but if it ends up happening (which I for real hope it does) we will definitely be looking for some alumni input, we know you guys have some amazing recipes out there. We hope to make this an ongoing fund-raiser.. maybe sell them in the bookstore and such, and if you have any ideas to get the ball rollin' leave a post or message on the Facebook group, or just leave a post because you want to, I love hearing from y'all!  This coming Tuesday is the annual Christmas party, TACKY STYLE this year. I am so excited about my tacky Christmas sweater! I hope all of you have a blessed holiday season, and safe travels if you are planning any. I'll try to post again soon to keep you updated :)

Constitution Changes... regarding YOU!

Alright ladies,
I decided to go ahead and post this when I found it in my email inbox, before I forget and its another 2 months before I get it up for you gals to see. The new addition to the constitution is as follows:
" Upon leaving Erskine College, a member of the Athenian Literary Society may be inducted for lifetime     membership after two consecutive full semesters of active participation if she has not previously resigned or been asked to leave by the judicial council. This induction will take place at the end-of-year banquet."
Sooooo, I'm pretty sure this means (drum roll please)  you ladies are stuck with us forever, bonded in sisterhood.

October...

The last update was right before the Athenians went on a sisterhood retreat to Denver Downs in Anderson. According to those who went, it was a lot of fun getting lost in the corn maze and zip lining.  The morning following our new advisor, Jan Walker, cooked apple pancakes for everyone at her house (I had a cross country meet, but the leftover she sent were delicious!). We also had our semi-formal (jointly with the Euphie Men and Little Sisters), attendance was a little slow due to new Erskine policies, but still fun. Athenian alum, Tessa Bigham, came too!! Haunted Halls in the hangar (since we still don't have an actual hall) was a success, we had a haunted tour.  But I have to admit, it was the most fun to scare the Athenians who were greeting and not scaring (after it was over and before we cleaned), they were very jumpy.  Rush kicked off with the sponsor dinner (this year it was desert since it was on the same night as the campus ministries hymn sing) last Sunday, October 31.  Miss Big Hair was this past Monday night (soo much fun as always). I am so proud of my rush baby, Miss Abby O'Reilly for bringing home the crown.  All of our potential new members were great!  Tuesday night the Athenians and rush class attended the Big Man on campus competition, our Sweetheart, Laborde, came in solid with a 2nd runner up finish.  Tonight was fun night, and we all know that what happens at fun night, stays at fun night!  Hope all of you are well, keep your eyes open for the new constitution changes from this year regarding our ALUMNI, they will be up soon... I hope!

Blessings..
