Spring Retreat!

The Athenians have a lot of big plans for the spring semester! We started off the semester with a two part retreat weekend. On Friday night, we got together and enjoyed yummy appetizers and desserts together. It was a really chill activity, and it was a good chance to spend some time together before the craziness of rush started. On Saturday, the Athenians headed to Greenville to paint some pottery. We just got the coffee mugs back this weekend, and they all turned out really cute! Sunday marked the beginning of our spring rush, and the theme is famous pop stars. We have five great girls rushing, and they did an awesome job at big hair night last night. We're so excited to get to know these girls more as rush continues. I hope everyone has a great week!

Fall Semester!

Hi Sisters!
I hope everyone has been loving the beautiful fall weather!  The Athenians have been very busy this semester.  In October, we worked at Covenant Way Retirement Center as waitresses.  The theme was Oktoberfest, and we had a lot of fun helping out.  We also had our fall retreat in October.  We showed off our outdoorsy sides by building a bonfire and making yummy s'mores outside. :)  At the end of October, we held our annual pancake breakfast during homecoming week.  This was a fun event that gave us the chance to raise some money for the society.  Our homecoming theme this year was the 90's, so we made a Spice Girls-themed float for the homecoming parade on Saturday.  It was tons of fun riding down Main Street with "Wannabe" blasting.  We even won a prize because everyone loved our float so much!  Last week was Halloween, so we held our Haunted Halls in the Hangar.  We dressed up as Stepford wives and had a great time trying to scare people.  We just completed  Bid Week, and we're so excited to have three amazing girls rushing this semester. :) Hopefully we'll have three new sisters in two weeks!
I hope everyone has a great week!

Happy Spring, Sisters!
It feels like this semester just started, but it is already springtime here at Erskine!  The Athenians have already done some really fun things.  In February, we had a Mardi Gras-themed pancake breakfast fundraiser!  We sold green and purple pancakes in Watkins.  It was really fun, and we raised a lot of money!  A few weeks ago, we put on our spring formal. The theme was "Arabian Nights," and it was a really great night!  I hope everyone's spring has gotten off to a great start and can't wait to see everyone at Alumni Day in April!

Christmas 2011

Hello butterflies!
The Athenians started off the Christmas season with a visit to Covenant Way in Due West.  We visited with the residents and sang Christmas carols to get into the holiday spirit.  The residents were so sweet and a blast to sing with. :)  Before exam week, all of the sisters gathered for a festive Christmas party in Robinson lobby.  We exchanged Secret Sister and Dirty Santa gifts.  We also had a visit from Santa himself! It was a great way to relax before the stress of exam week began.  2011 was an amazing year to be an Athenian, and we can't wait to make our sisters even more proud in 2012!

Fall Rush 2011- It's a Safari!

Hello Sisters!
The semester so far has been full of exciting Athenian events! Our Fall Retreat was last Friday. We all went to El Q. and made crafts in Watkins. It was a great time of sister bonding. :) We also hosted Bingo Night a few weeks ago. We raised alot of money for the Susan G. Komen Foundation and had a great time doing it! We just finished rush last Thursday. The theme was safari, and it was definitely wild! We're excited to welcome Kat Mulzer, Hannah Oates, Ellie Jacks, Kasi Benskin, and Katie Busbee into the society. These girls gave their all during rush, and we're so pumped to call them sisters! Hope everyone has a Happy Thanksgiving! Be looking for a new blog next month.

Oh, Some Stuff I forgot!

We went roller skating in Greenwood for our spring retreat! One of the sketchiest places in town!! 7 year olds making out in the corners, and some guys dressed like they were trying to be "gangsta" with some dance moves. They were actually good but the fact that they thought they were all that was so funny, I was embarrassed for the. Oh, and did I mention one of them was a gray haired!! Probably in his mid 40s maybe 50s! Ha Ha. We also had our formal at this really pretty old house that made me feel like I was living in a fairy tale!! Ok, bye for real this time... I think.

:)

Hello sisters!!

Sorry that this blog has once again gotten away from me! Rush ended several weeks ago, we now have 7 new sisters!! Congratulations to Alex Oakes, Brooke Dodge, Casey Hughes, Anna Johnson, Paris Hanvey, Isabelle Forbes, and Leslie McGill!!! Thinking back to rush events... almost everyone's personal favorite, Miss Big Hair, Anna Johnson kept it in the family and was crowned Miss Big Hair (I'm such a proud mama :)) and Brooke Dodge was crowned for Biggest Hair!! The Miss Erskine Pageant was a success again, emceed by reigning Miss Erskine, Taylor Wolfe, and Tillary Blackman! Elizabeth DeVault was crowned Miss Erskine 2011, first runner up was Schadell Brooks, and second runner up was our own Meghan Matthews.  Meghan stunned the crowd with her stand up comedy routine while Schadell and Elizabeth sang.  The Relay for Life walk has been postponed until the fall since there is soo much going on this spring at Erskine.  The Athenians just had a successful fundraiser, we had a car wash.  We have visited our widow several times this semester, Rebekah Harkins and I even got to see her during the Widow's Ministry over spring break, she now has a ramp in her garage to avoid the steps!  Look out for information about Alumni weekend, we would love to see you guys!!

Agape.  :)
