About Us

*est. 1956*
Our purpose is to promote sisterhood through service and social projects done as an outreach to Erskine College and its community. The Athenian Literary Society is the oldest female society existing on the Erskine College campus today. We are proud to count many of our members among the leaders of Erskine and the diversity of our membership is second to none. Our goal is to promote Christian emphasis in the activities in which we are involved.

Service, Social, Sisterhood

Some of our service projects include participation in Relay-For-Life, Breast Cancer Awareness, and visits to the Due West Retirement Center and involvement in
widow's ministry.
Our social events that reach out to the Erskine student body include watermelon socials, formals, and cookouts. In order to promote sisterhood within our society we hold many entertainment events for members only, such as holiday parties, an Easter egg hunt, retreat weekends, pajama & pizza parties, and our annual end-of-the-year banquet.
Our society is not just a planning committee striving to create the most events on campus! We are a diverse group of women who together are learning leadership, the importance of service, growing in the use of our talents, and who all enjoy the sisterhood bond found within our society.
